Mary Pierce's Biography
Mary Pierce was born January 15th, 1975 in Montreal, Canada. Actually, she has never really lived in Canada as her mother was only in Montreal for a trip. She started playing tennis with her father. He was later expelled from seeing her or assisting to any WTA event after physically abusing her.
Mary made her pro debut in march 1989 at Hilton Head. She was at the time (Capriati has bbroken this record since) the youngest player to ever play a pro tournament at 14 years and 2 months old. She then entered the top 10 for the first time in 1994.
Mary now resides both in Paris, France (and plays for France also) and in Bradenton, Florida (USA) near Nick Bollitieri's training facilities. She is 1.80m tall and weighs 61kg. She is right-handed but has a two hands backhand.
Mary's best career rank is #3 in the world and she has 2 career single titles in grand slam events; the 1995 Australian Open and 2000 French Open. When Mary won the Australian Open in 1995, she became the first French woman to win a grand slam title in 28 years!
Now aged 30, Mary is still playing very good tennis, having even reached the French Open final in 2005, and she is consistently in the top 20:)
